From Tokyo, only one hour train ride takes you to another world, Kamakura, an ancient capital of samurais.Their spirit of "Zen" still remains anywhere. The passage of time is quite different from the one of megapolis Tokyo. I think three spots express the essence of Kamakura, Great Buddha (Kotoku-in Temple), Bamboo Temple (Hokoku-ji Temple) and First Shogun's Shrine (Tsuru-ga-oka Hachiman Guu).
At the West exit (Nishi-guchi) of JR Kamakura station
Symbol of Kamakura
Spirit of Zen
Shogun (Samurai Leader)'s Starting Point
At JR Kamakura station or in front of Komachi shopping street
I'm sure a serene atmosphere of Kamakura will greatly impress you.
At first, the open-air Great Buddha, must-see of Kamakura, will be your unforgettable scene. Then, at our second spot, a bamboo grove will introduce you to "Zen" world. If you'd like, you can have a cup of powdered green tea (Matcha) with a small japanese sweet in a teahouse looking at bamboo trees (←I recommend this ! ). And, at the third spot, Shogun's shrine (Shogun is samourai leader), I'll tell you a story of two ponds of the precinct. One is so-called "lucky" pond and another is "unlucky" one. Why ? and how ? This shrine still reflects wishes of The First Shogun more than 800 yeas ago ! And.....I'm looking forward to seeing you and telling the story of the two ponds !!
guide fee
transportation fee ("One-Day-Pass)(you and guide), entrance fee (temples)
This tour depends on places' schedule.
This tour depends on the calender of the temples
Kamakura would force you to walk more than you imagine. We'll take a bus and a local train, but each temple and shrine has the large precincts. I recommend comfortable shoes.
We need One-Day-Pass(Kamakura Kankyo Tegata)to move by bus and train. Please pay 900 yen (adult) or 450 yen (age 6-12) per person.
Bamboo Temple requires an admission fee, 300 yen per person, if you take a tea (powdered green tea)there, plus 600 yen per person, please.
At the temple of Great Buddha, the entrance fee is 300 yen or 150 yen (age 6-12) per person.
(About your transportation fee to Kamakura, for example, from Shinjuku to Kamakura, it costs 950 yen per person on JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line)
I can guide you in Kamakura if you pay my transportation fee.
I'm sure a serene atmosphere of Kamakura will greatly impress you.

I hired Itsumi to pick us up and drop us off at our hotel in Tokyo for a trip to Kamakura / Itsumi knows the area pretty well and showed us the main attractions- She try to include all our wishes and doesn’t mind to spend extra time - It was a pleasant trip- I will hire Itsumi again when I visit Japan again Nicole
Thank you, Nicole ! I really enjoyed to be with you. We had a lovely Kamakura time ! Please give my regards to Robert as well. Thanks, Itsumi
It'sumi was a good tour guide. She made my tour interesting but she needs to learn her way around more and be circumspect.
Thanks, Miriam. I'll learn more ! Itsumi
We had a great tour of kamakura with our 3 boys!
I'm really glad to have your comment, Aimee ! I wish you & your nice guys every happiness. Itsumi
We visited Kamakura with Itsumi and saw 3 major shrine/temple areas in a short period of time. She was very knowledgeable, she tailored the tour to meet our interests, she was kind enough to make some last minute changes we requested, went as fast or slow as we wanted, and was very pleasant. I highly recommend!
Dear Brad J, Thank you for writing a review of my Kamakura half day tour. Yesterday was a beautiful day ! but the bus and the street were very crowded. Thank you for all your cooperation. Thank you very much for taking my tour ! Itsumi
