Me and my friends greatly enjoyed the evening spent with Mai as she introduced us to Sendai and her favourite places. What to do, where to go, of course which sake to try and little things here and there - I'm very grateful for the time spent together and the additional insights she gave us. It wasn't our first time in Japan, but a first in Tohoku and for that I highly recommend to meet up with Mai if you're looking for good company ️:)
I had a wonderful tour of 3 hours plus with Mai in Sendai, her hometown. Mai spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable about local landmarks, the major religions and local history. She is a lovely person and I enjoyed getting to know her. After the tour I contacted her and asked for restaurant recommendations in Yamagata and she texted me some wonderful options. I would highly recommend Mai for any tours in the area.
Matsushima is a must see if you are in Tohoku and Mai is an excellent guide to explore everything it has to offer. She is thoughtful and kind and everything went very smoothly. We even got to use the 1st class deck of the cruise ship for free. Her passion for the Tohoku region is infectious and she was able to recommend many other places of interest. She can provide the history of the area and background on its culture. We were lucky to have such wonderful weather too which always helps! Thank you Mai for your company during my time in Sendai on both day trips.
I had an excellent day exploring Yamadera with Mai. She was very knowledgeable and organised and the day trip was very enjoyable. She was generous with her time and we even managed to fit in an extra stop at Rinnoji once back in Sendai. I would highly recommend spending your time in Yamadera with Mai. There is no substitute for a local guide.
